Class Details | Recreation

 

We offer numerous recreation classes to children from 3 months and older. Our Nationally qualified coaches deliver programmes suited to the age and stage of all children.

The classes are structured and cover the 6 dominant movement patterns of Spring, Rotation, Landings, Swing, Statics and Locomotion.

These dominant movement patterns are the building blocks of all sport!

 

Emphasis is on FUN in a safe environment.

 

My First Coach & Me - 3-18 months old          Wednesdays & Fridays 10:00 - 10:30 - $65

Under the guidance of accompanying parent and coach. 

30 minute class  involving action songs and early exploration of FMP (Fundamental Movement Patterns - Rotation, Statics, Manipulation, Landings, Locomotion, Swing and Spring).

 

Movers & Shakers - 18 months-3 years old       Wednesdays & Fridays 10:30 - 11.15 - $80

Under the guidance of accompanying parent and coach.

45 minute class designed to enhance your child's motor, listening and social skills through fun gymnastics incorporating FMP.

 

Little Twisters - 3-5 years old  Wednesdays &  Fridays 12.45-1.30 & 1.45-2.30

                                                                           Saturdays 8:30 - 9:15 & 9:15 - 10:00 - $95

45 minute class that will encourage development in self confidence, while increasing agility, strength and flexibility.  Large apparatus, mats, beams and small apparatus are used within these classes, in conjunction with rhythmic activities, to broaden the child's experience.

 

High Flyers - 5-8 years old                                  Monday to Thursday 3.30-4.30pm  - $105

1 hour class focusing on beam/balance, floor activities, bars, vault/bounce - award system and assessment criteria available from office.

 

Hot Shots - 8-12 years old                                    Monday to Thursday 4.30-5.30pm - $105

1 hour class for older children who are beginners or those children who wish to build on their current skill level learnt at an earlier age.  All participants will be involved in the award system and assessment process.

 

Hot Shots (extension) - 8-12 year olds             Tuesday or Wednesday 4.30-6.00pm - $145

1 1/2 hour class for those gymnasts who are ready for a longer class time and to try more challenging skills.  Gymnasts will continue to perfect their beginner skills during these sessions also.

Tot Shots Novice Comp                                    Tuesday or Wednesday 4.30-6.00pm - $145

1 1/2 hour class focused on incorporating developed skills into routines for novice club competitions

 

Boys Recreation - 5 -8 years old                        Tuesday or Friday3:45 - 4:45pm - $105

1 hour class specifically designed for boys to increase strength, flexibility and agility using Mens large apparatus.

 

Boys Recreation - 8-12 years old                               Tuesday 4:45pm - 5:45pm  - $105

1 hour class specifically designed for boys to develop skills and techniques as well as overall conditioning, using mens large apparatus.

 

Rhythmic Recreation                    Thursday at 3:30 - 4:30 - $105 or 3:30-5.00pm - $145

The Rhythmic class will allow the girls to build apparatus handling and flexibility skills using: Ropes, Balls and Hoops as well as developing dance. The Rhythmic Recreational gymnasts work towards sitting badges when ready. The extra half hour is offered for those wanting to advance their skills.

 

Recreation Trampoline        Monday to Saturday (1 hr - $105 or 1 1/2 hrs - $145 classes)

Trampoline classes are available every day and will vary from either the beginners 1 hour class or the more advanced 1.5 hour class. Contact the office as class times vary.

Children learn safe techniques as well as building skills at their own development rate. To be able to bounce safely it is important to develop core body strength, so some conditioning work is done off the trampolines.

 

Adults Class                                                     Thursday 7.30-9.00pm - $15 per session

1 1/2 hour classes for our more mature members.  Participants are encouraged to learn skills at their own pace, you are encourages to :have a go" or just "keep active" using all the apparatus in the gymnasium including the trampolines.. Our adult members have achieved great success at the Masters Games held annually either in Christchurch or Timaru.

 

General Information

We ask our members attending to wear appropriate clothing- bike pants and leggings with a fitted T-shirt or sweatshirt.

 

Please avoid buttons and zips on clothing as this can catch on the equipment. For safety reasons all long hair must be tied up using a plain elasticized hair tie.

 

Children attending trampoline classes must wear white socks (preferrably cotton as the synthetic socks slip) while training.
