Board Members Profiles
Introducing
the Board:
The current
board of Olympia has a wide range of skills and
expertise and runs the club in a highly professional
manner. The expertises of individual board members
are detailed below:
Richard
Green – Marketing and Chairperson
Richard's gymnastics
achievements are numerous, including New Zealand
National titles in MAG and Australian Universities
Championship titles in MAG and trampolining. He
has also coached MAG, WAG and trampolining up
to elite level and judged MAG at National level
in Australia . He is currently on the Canterbury
Gymnastics Association and Canterbury Trampolining
committees. Richard holds a PhD in computer science,
in which he developed a software system which
can be applied to assist gymnastics coaching and
judging, and has lectured in biomechanics at the
University of Sydney . He is currently an academic
in the Computer Science Department at Canterbury
University.
Isabel Goodhew – Personnel
Isabel’s involvement with
gymnastics started as a parent of a gymnast 15
years ago. She became involved in the administration
of the sport at a regional level in 1996 and has
been the secretary for the association since 1997
and was a finalist in the Sport Canterbury Administrator
of the year award in 2007. She has also been involved
with managing the artistic teams for Nationals
and is currently the Chairperson for the Canterbury
Nationals Committee.
Shane Holdsworth –
International
Shane's sporting background
is in volleyball having represented New Zealand
in the senior men's team over a period of 10 years
touring countries such as Australia, Japan, Korea
and Iran. He has coached Canterbury age group
volleyball for the last two years.
His interests in the sport also lie in the coaching
and development of athletes and coaches who have
high performance aspirations within their code.
He has a particular interest in how training principles
and philosophies from all sporting codes can be
utilised for the benefit of high performance athletes
and coaches.
Shane currently works for JADE Corporation as
a software engineer maintaining and developing
applications for ports and logistics organisations.
Andy Worrill - Finance
Andy has an extensive background
in Chartered Accountancy. Financial modelling
of proposed business opportunities, optimizing
business structures and taxation matters are particular
interests and strengths that Andy has. He has
also advised Charitable and Non Profit Organizations
in accounting matters, and is Secretary of a Statutory
Research Trust.
Kathryn O'Neill - Facility
Kathryn's sporting background
is in Artistic and Speed Roller Skating to National
Level. She now has two children competing and
representing Olympia in Rhythmic Gymnastics and
Trampoline. Kathryn has taken on the role of Marketing Manager at Olympia and her extensive network is a real bonus to this position. She has a lot of energy and drive and as Chair of the Building Commitee is keen to make a difference!
